Today, the President of the Republic of Vestina held a working meeting with the Director of the National Archives Service, during which the parties discussed the progress in developing the digital infrastructure of the National Archive — one of the key institutions preserving Vestina’s state memory.
The parties noted that significant progress has been made in establishing a fully functional technical foundation for the Archive, designed to ensure both openness and compliance with the security requirements applicable to restricted-access documents.
Already established and operational:
The Archive is divided into two sectors: a public sector, accessible to any citizen without restriction, and a restricted sector, which stores documents classified as official or state secrets, as well as other materials to which access is restricted by law. The public sector features a flexible filtering system by category, year, and month. Its categories cover the full range of government records, from Constitutional Laws and resolutions of the Garacium to diplomatic acts, presidential addresses, and official publications by foreign media concerning Vestina.
For the restricted sector, a complete controlled-access procedure has been established. A citizen submits an application specifying their VST-ID, email address, and reason for the request. The Archive Administration reviews the application and, if approved, sends the applicant a one-time access code. When a document is opened, a security system is activated: a dynamic watermark linked to the identity of the viewer is applied, copying and printing are disabled, and every instance of access is recorded in an audit log for subsequent review.
Upon admission to the Archive, each document is assigned a unique archival reference number, and the system automatically generates a QR code for authenticity verification. By scanning the code, anyone can confirm that the document is officially registered with the National Archive.
The President of Vestina, in turn, emphasized the importance of the Archive as one of the symbols of the Republic’s institutional maturity:
- A digital state cannot rely solely on the present — it needs a history of its own that can be preserved and revisited. Today, we have seen that the infrastructure needed for this is ready, - the President noted.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to begin the systematic addition of documents to the Archive. The first stage will cover existing legislative acts, resolutions of the Garacium, and issues of the Republic’s official newspaper, Sovereign Vestina. The Archive will continue to be updated on an ongoing basis.
